Decorating in these hard economical times can
be quite challenging for many of us.
After much thought I decided
to take my Rubber Door Mat Wall Art
and create a statement wall by using
several of them...
I used the same Heirloom White Satin
spray paint from my local Home Depot.
It takes roughly two coats before sanding.
Also the paint seals that rubber smell
after a day or two while allowing them
to air out after spray painting.
I used a combination of 80 & 120 grit
sand paper on my hand sander
to achieve that aged worn feel and
give that illusion of a vintage iron piece.
As you can see the rubber mats
each have a different thickness.
When I first created this in 2009
I only used square shaped mats.
I purchased the halfmoon shape
at the Family Dollar Store. Walmart has
a similiar one ranging from 7.99 -9.99
Paint cost was 3.87 a can and I used two cans for
four rubber mats.
I staged the family room to show
how multiple rubber mats would look
for a creative and cost effective wall decor.
Keeping the total cost perfect for
beautiful budget decorating.
Simple, elegant and easy to create...
Frugal at its finest!
I will be linking up this week to Kathleen's
