Salvage Bliss...

This weekend at the STORE I had a chance to visit with some of my blog
followers who came down to shop. I was asked to post how I use salvaged pieces
in my own home?

I use salvaged shutters and doors to create

the look or feel for my home that gives

my personal touch and is a true reflection

of what I love...

depending on the piece sometimes its turn key ready

or I will distress or add a paint finish to them

the beauty lies in how interchangeable they are

and can move from room to table top or walls

This is a very old cabinet door that came from a salvage yard

that Mr Dior really loved so I created a headboard

in our loft with it...

we have extreme amounts of light through windows

of our home so I have to do angle shots to avoid

the strong sunlight

When I have such bad days with my Lupus I need

to be in a place that creates a calm and soothing affect

this vintage French nightstand always

makes me feel good inside...

her lines are my "Jimmy Choo" of nightstands..

fresh flowers always adds charm

these shutters made my heart pitter patter...

so I thought " oh why not "

the men in my house fell in love with this mid century chair

and asked for me to change up our living room

with a more rustic feel for the summer

I have my work cut out for me to

complete this makeover...

Have a beautiful week ladies!!!

I am on my way to revamp

much love from me..

I did not know that you have lupus. My sister and my neice both have lupus. It is such a difficult disease. Is it pretty manageable for you?

Ah, Kate .... I ADORE your space. It's SO serene. Something I'm working on achieving in my own home. Mr. Dior is a lucky man to have SUCH a talented wife : ) Wish I lived close enough to visit your shop. Such an inspiration. Thank you my dear friend for sharing with us ~ Deanna

Hi Kate,
Thanks for sharing your wonderful design style. I adore it, everything looks so charming, relaxing and tranquil. I have started an eight to five job, so not much time for crafting and blogging on this end. I am not complaining just having to prioritize and manage my time better, to include at least selling at the fleas. Hope to see you soon. You are always in my thoughts, so I am really happy to see a post from you :)
Take care,
Jeanette

I love the use of shutters in your home. I was at an architectural salvage place over the weekend and they had many many shutters. I couldn't think what I would need them for...but looks like I might indeed need them. Great post. I like that chair too.

Your bedroom looks very soothing and calm to me. Hope you are doing well. You'll be the first to know if I make a trip down to Cali girl. Not sure when that will be though.....hopefully sooner than later. I really want to get to Rose Bowl.

Best wishes,

Kathleen
