" Rescue Me " styled for Spring

This week I wanted to share my latest

Spring style rescue.

You know the stuff that makes my heart skip a beat...

My sweet friend Carrie

found a lovely worn and unloved vintage table by a dumpster

and her hubby brought it to me.

There is great joy when your girlfriends

find you trash that they know you will love.

Carrie is a precious blessing to my heart!

The legs had such beautiful lines

and great character.

We stripped the pieces of the table top

to remove all of the old wood stain.

Mr. Dior built the base and then we salvaged

a few planks to form the top of the table.

I first used a clear wax to seal the wood

then white washed paint over the wax.

The last step I sanded a smooth finish

with 120 grit sand paper and sealed again

with clear wax for protection.

I wanted the table top

to have a farm style look to it.

And now the perfect finish...

I used the same gray white wash technique

on the rescued shutters against the wall.

I added a sea lavendar plant to add a splash of color

during the spring season. I love that it will last

much longer than fresh flowers.

I fell head over heels for this large old urn

that I rescued with a broken base.

It has such a gorgeous patina

that evolved from years of weather damage.

I gathered branches from our backyard

to bring a touch of nature inside.

The small table top urn

I grabbed at my local Goodwill store

for a few dollars. It made the perfect

container for my sea lavendar...

I'm delighted to share

that I am a monthly contributor

 to the fabulous Houzz.

You can view my April idea book

and follow along. You can view

my idea books also at the top

right hand corner of my blog.

I will be linking up this week

with my favorite gals in blogland

Wishing each of you

a week full of love and blessings

XOXO

Whoa Nelly...so much prettiness! I can't take it! The table transformation is amazing and to think it was free! Love the sea lavender in an urn. Such a cool looking plant! I still have not found the perfect branches yet. Yours look great! Your decorating always looks stunning and effortless. Seeing your beautiful shutters inspire me to re-do one that I have. That project is going to move up on my list of things to do.

Paint over wax? I did not know that...I love the look!
Where do I buy sea lavender?
I got an urn very similar today at Goodwill.
I love how you guys mounted the legs b/c I probably would have the top turned the other way but I like it your way best.

Hi Kate, first congrats on being a contributor to Houzz. That's wonderful! Well-deserved. They are lucky to have you.

Second, the makeovers on the table and the shutters are great! Never heard of sea lavender but that pop of green in a white environment truly does speak of Spring.

I guess I have to get used to worrying about my boy. He will being to Colorado for college and will be so very far away.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend. Tammy

Whatever you do....I LOVE.
Beautiful job!
How are you???
Barely coming up for air lately (I'm sure you can relate). Overwhelmed with weddings and shops...fun, but extremely exhausting.
My latest creation was a monster...beyond time consuming. I just posted the outcome. :)
Hope you are doing well....
Think of you oh soooo often...
Big hugs from Jersey. xoxoxo

Love it - and such vision you had for this table!

I wanted to let you know that because I loved it so much, I featured it on my blog: http://www.organicallyopulent.com/friday-top-ten-diys-issue-5/ (so feel free to grab my button if you wish). It's a beauty - and so is the rest of the room.

Love it, love it! I have something like it in my shed. YOu've inspired me to drag it out and make it a beauty like this!
