" Collected "

Collections speak of who we are

what we love and truly

what draws us in...

The framed human skeletons

from a very old library book

were among the quirky

I added to my collected...

The sea shells and small corals

are placed in glass cylinders

among my loved

books & various baskets...

I never tire of mixing

coral and natural elements

all in the same vignette...

For a simple change

I will bring in one of my old wood

ladders and add tree branches

and gourds that I have painted white...

Great way to mix fall items

into your summer decor...

A touch of sea grass

always suites my taste...

I will be linking this week to

the lovely Kathleen's White Wednesday # 152

the beautiful Joy and Thriftin-on-Thursday # 20

the amazing Debra and  Vintage Inspiration # 88

Thank you to each of you who

left such wonderful comments

on my Look for Less post...

Wishing each of you a

very blessed week!

"Look for Less" & my winner

I always look forward to sharing

our " Look for Less " projects

when Mr. Dior & I team up...

This past week I really

was striving for spring/summer

 change while stretching

that dollar as far as I could.

This project had Mr. Dior really stumped for

a few minutes. We stumbled upon an old broken

canvas folding chair lying near a

 trash can in the neighborhood.

When I asked him to put it in the back of our truck

he gave me quite the puzzled look.

I knew right away that I was going

to marry it with a piece of glass

that I salvaged from an old coffee

table I picked up at a yard sale for 4.00

Mr. Dior removed the arms

and the torn canvas.

I sanded the frame and added

the dry brushed white/ gray

The glass was heavy enough

so I placed it directly

on top of the chair frame

{old director's chair}

It was perfect and then for

a quick end table I grabbed

an old water bottle stand that

I found for 5.00

and added the round glass table top

that you can purchase at Anna's Linens for 7.99

Just enough to add a lamp and

a piece of coral...

I wanted a lighter area rug

for the spring/summer season

and was over the moon when I

found this one at the Goodwill

for less than 40.00

Our local Goodwill sells return stock from

our local Target stores.

This rug retails at Target for 179.99

It was new still in the plastic and I love

the jute woven blend that was

the perfect texture for this room...

Everything in this room is almost

ready for the new season

Just a few finishing touches

here and there for the Dior home...

What I truly love about

working with a neutral palette

is how accessories can be interchanged

from room to room.

With the exception of the coral

each item was found at a yard sale or

our local Goodwills...

Small Spaces

The Dior home is an older

one that is filled with

 small spaces that lend themself

to a unique way of display

with function...

Our home does not really have

an entry way so I am always looking

for something to create a sense of "us"

when you first walk through the door...

I love mixing neutral textures

to create that "coastal living" feel...

I love pieces of nature

such as dried branches

along with other elements that I can

use to lend a peaceful calm...

 Old salvaged windows

are among my favorites

and a must have for me...

It was the perfect size

for this old piano bench

to add height and

take up bare wall space.

I was delighted to

find this beautiful woven seagrass

basket with handles at

the Goodwill for 3.99

I found this old sewing table there

as well and after doing a gray

white wash I decided to have some

fun and chalk the top...

Since I will be using it in the entry

I just might have to start a game

of " tic tac toe " on it

with Mr. Dior...

I will be linking up to

the beautiful Kathleen's

White Wednesday!

Much love to all of you

Vintage Inspiration Friday

When I think about what

I love most about the use of

vintage pieces is how

they add wonderful

touches throughout your home...

I salvaged this old door from

a torn down home and knew

it would be a perfect back drop...

I decided to marry it

in a corner of the room

with a treasured vintage suitcase

and an old piano bench

to hold extra bed pillows

Later I dry brushed

the piano bench with white

so that I could use it

with one of the vintage ladders

I found at a yard sale...

My heart skips a beat when I

find an old ladder

{swoon}

The arched vintage window

is still among my favorite

finds...

I added baskets to this

vintage ladder that I took

to my space at Country Roads...

Wishing all of you

a blessed weekend...

Farm style " raw wood "

I absolutely love the beauty

of raw wood. I have several pieces

that I am currently using around

the Dior home...

Old ladders, tables and other elements

bring in the " farm style "

touch that blends so well with

our neutral pallet...

Some of the pieces have

traces of old paint which

adds to the natural beauty

of old wood...

I spied this raw wood book case in

the garden many months ago

Mr. Dior works out in the garden

when Brande needs him and when she

decided that she no longer

needed this piece, I received

the best surprise

when it came home with him...

I love the simplicity of it...

this old wire basket was

my favorite find last week

for one dollar...

which was a perfect fit

for our home

I found quite a few ladders

last week which some have gone

to the STORE

to add that " farm style " beauty

to someone's home.

I will be linking up to

Have a beautiful week!

XOXO
